The Kid: A Galactic 2E Playbook

The Kid is a Galactic 2E playbook built for playing the overlooked. You could be an ingenue, like Luke Skywalker; a clown, like Jar Jar; a dogsbody, like R2D2;  a prize, like Grogu, a decoy, like Sabé; or a pawn, like Anakin, among many others.

It's a playbook about no one expecting you to be able to seize your destiny, about being a piece in a game others are playing, and about proving your personhood and worth despite all of this. It's also a good choice if you're interested in playing a droid struggling with their own personhood and agency.

Others will seek to shape you and use you, even more so once you reveal any potential you might have.  You can trust their image of you, or try to grow into the next person's idea of what you should be.

This is a playbook that plays in the space of control and claims to ownership over your character. You can and should play without these elements if you're not comfortable with them — check at your table to make sure everyone's on the same page when it comes to having slavery as an element in your game.

Play The Kid if you're interested in exploring relationships of power, subtle themes of control and manipulation, and finding your potential and self-actualization. Play The Kid if you want to play into dramatic irony, if you want to relax as comic relief, or if you want to be another pathetic life form in the company of would-be heroes and ask whether you matter, too.
